Michael Sipe
Michael is the president and founder of CrossPointe Capital, a middle market mergers, acquisitions, business brokerage and business development firm he founded over 35 years ago that serves buyers, sellers and builders of small to medium sized CA, OR and WA manufacturing, distribution, sales and services companies. Headquartered in Bend, OR, his business broker and M&A practice is primarily focused in Central Oregon (Bend, Redmond, Sisters, Madras, Prineville and LaPine) and the San Francisco Bay Area. He leads project teams that are staffed, as each assignment requires, by professionals from law, accounting, finance, marketing, insurance, public relations and information technology.
Mike has been an entrepreneur since the fifth grade. Since then, his career experiences, which include civil engineering, publishing, computer simulation, multimedia production, direct sales, business consulting, training and education, manufacturing, retail and real estate, have proven invaluable in his current work as a business intermediary and consultant to growing companies. In the process of buying and selling his own companies, Mike became intrigued by the absence of a well-developed market for mid-sized companies, and the frustrations and challenges consequently faced by potential buyers and sellers. He formed CrossPointe to help remedy this problem. The subsequent years have been filled with great people, fine companies, and successful deals. He's evaluated over 5,000 companies in detail and advised on hundreds of transactions totaling about a half billion dollars in aggregate value. In the process, Mike has made a rigorous study of the contract, accounting, tax and business issues involved in the transfer of a company. He has a special talent for designing creative solutions to the problems that can arise. Using the proprietary 10x Value Catalyst Program, Mike coaches CEO clients, most of whom are in the top 10% of income earners in the country, on how to build exponential enterprise value in preparation for optimum exit through sale, management buyout, family succession, recapitalizations or ESOP transactions. A #1 Best Selling author of Finish Strong - Exit Well: How to Prepare, Position and Sell Your Business for Top Dollar, Mike is an accomplished writer, teacher and public speaker. He regularly addresses civic and professional organizations on mergers, acquisitions, marketing and business development. Over the years, Mike has been actively involved with The Executive Committee (TEC), now Vistage, an international organization of CEOs, as an Associate, a Consultant, and as a Speaker. He is a graduate of the Sales Professionals Course and a multi-year participant in the Strategic Coach Program. Mike’s affiliations over the years include the leading professional M&A organizations in the world:
He is currently Chairman of 10x Catalyst Groups, which are Central Oregon based peer advisory groups for Christian CEOs, Business Owners and Entrepreneurs. See: www.10xGroups.com. In this capacity he also produces the annual Community Leaders Prayer Breakfast, the Excellerate Central Oregon Business Forum, and the Community Leaders Christmas Social, plus holding leadership and speaking roles in local faith-in-the-marketplace events. Mike also chairs a full Vistage Group of 18 top CEOs in Bend. At a community level, Mike has been a leader in local business, ministry and non-profit organizations. Mike headed the finance committee for his local church multi-million dollar capital campaign. He was Chairman of the High Desert Men's Summit and led the largest Christian Men's event in Oregon, which featured Governor (Presidential nominee) Mike Huckabee and a massive region wide community concert for thousands featuring the area's finest Christian musicians. He serves on the board of his wife's non-profit, NewEachMorning.org, which supports women graduates of drug and alcohol addiction recovery programs. For several years, Mike was on the Board of Directors and recently served as President of the Rotary Club of Greater Bend, one of the largest Clubs in the country. For several years he led the club's Great Drake Park Duck Race - the most well known charitable project in Central Oregon. Mike is also a past Director of the Bend Chamber of Commerce. Mike ran for State Representative in House District 53 as a Republican in 2022, falling short by only 509 votes in a strongly Democrat district. Mike grew up in the high country of Northern Arizona. He attended Arizona State University and obtained a business degree on an Army ROTC Scholarship. He also graduated from the Army Ranger School, Engineer School and Topographic School before serving as a combat engineer Captain in West Germany. Mike earned a blackbelt as a martial artist in Aikido. In his free time, you'll likely find Mike outside, hanging out with his kids and grandkids, fly fishing, white water rafting, hiking, skiing, or deep in the mountains on horseback. |
"I initially approached Mike Sipe to evaluate a potential sale of my business. Since I had what I considered a 12-year old 'niche' technology business, I was unsure if there was a market for it or not. Mike readily accepted the challenge to sell my business and worked diligently to find a buyer that met my requirements for a sale. Through the inevitable ups and downs of the process, and the many surprises, Mike remained a level-headed influence on both myself and the potential buyers. He often provided simple solutions for what, at times, seemed like insurmountable issues. I would highly recommend Mike and Private Equities to anyone considering a sale of their business."
